Bad day has a way of playing with one's mind. You feel less of yourself, look down on yourself and think worse of yourself. To crown it all, social media adds more salt to this injury to oneself; the trending lifestyles, achievements, perfect faces and bodies.
Today is one of those days where I lay on the bed, straddling the threadbare pillow and gazing lustfully at the ceiling that needs help just like I do, if not more.
Thoughts of what my life turned out to be; I had big dreams, aspirations and expectations. When I was much younger I had it all figured out, at least that was what I thought but it happens to a child who has worries of nothing. Just thinking about it reminds me of how eager I was to grow up and explore the wonders of life. But you never know the consequences of what you wish for till the wishes come true. To think that wishes would always bring happiness when they come true is a lie I'll never believe in ever again.
My tenth year wish is now a reality but how I want the inverse of it. Maybe I would still not be happy even when the reverse was the case. What do we humans really want? I'm still trying to figure that out.
Adulthood is all I blame for these failures. Maybe it's the punishment I get for wanting that which I shouldn't. That aside, It offered me freedom and independence but the responsibilities weigh more than the benefits it gives and there is no escaping them.
HOW TO NAVIGATE ADULTHOOD
DON'T BE TOO HARD ON YOURSELF: Life may not be going the way you plan and adulting is the most challenging phase of any man. Whenever it seems difficult, just know that you got this and you will surely figure it all out.
MISTAKES AND FAILURE ARE OPPORTUNITIES: Mistakes and failure are bound to occur in the life of almost every adult. Accepting the true powers of one's mistake and figuring out how to avoid them from recurrence is better than letting them define you.
TIME MANAGEMENT: Time, they say waits for no man. As a child it never matters how well you made use of your time but transitioning into adulthood needs proper time management—scheduling your days, events and other activities prepare one for a better adult life.
CAREER CHOICE: At this stage of your life, it is important to decide on the right career aspect. What do you love doing? Or what you have interest in. Your career choice may not align with others but knowing what you love doing is the first step in a career decision.
SAVING: Budget is a good spending habit of many successful men—Never spend more than your income. Always try to save 25-30% of income for the future or investment.
EAT HEALTH: No matter how busy your schedule is or how strained your budgets are, come up with a proper food plan. Remember a healthy man is a wealthy man.
FOLLOW THE GOLDEN RULE: Strive to treat everyone with respect and kindness. You never know what someone will turn out to be or what tomorrow will hold. Always spread love and kindness.
PLAN FOR THE FUTURE: A man without plans is planning to fail. Plan on how to achieve your dreams and aspirations and work towards accomplishing them.
Hello dear,
You got this and you are doing just fine. With time, dedication and proper preparation you will start to embrace adulthood as not just a challenging phase but as a youthful stage of your life, where wonders are bound to happen. LIVE IT RIGHT.
