BOOK REVIEW
BOOK TITLE: NEXT LEVEL THINKING
BOOK AUTHOR: JOEL OSTEEN
‘10 POWERFUL THOUGHTS FOR A SUCCESSFUL AND ABUNDANT LIFE’
It is a motivational and purpose driven book with real life stories of people and great men — their challenges, setbacks, thoughts on what life is all about and likewise their breakthrough.
SIX KEY LESSON FROM NEXT LEVEL THINKING:
1. YOU ARE NOT A CHILD AT RISK: Oftentimes we let people detect the type of person we are. We let ourselves be buried in the beliefs of people about us, forgetting the true meaning of God's plans and intentions for us. You are a child of possibility.
2. YOU ARE FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE: Have you ever seen or heard of a tiger giving birth to a chicken instead of a tiger cub? No right. We are the image of God, created in his likeness. We are never made for less because God's plan for us is for greatness.
3. COMPARE AND DESPAIR: We all are born for different purposes on earth. We are not in competition with anyone except ourselves. Run your own race and be grateful for your achievement. Don't live in another person's shadow.
4. SETBACKS ARE FOR BREAKTHROUGH: Do the road look narrow to go through? Or is the end of the tunnel too dark? And all hope seems lost. These are challenges that come not to break us but to prepare us for the greater things yet to come our way. Those impossibilities are the next good things coming our way. Don't give up yet.
5. NEVER GOOD ENOUGH: We try so hard to prove who we are; just so they can see how relevant we are. In this journey of approval from others, we lose sight of our self recognition. We are not inferior as they say, they may not have seen it but greatness is embedded in us. So shake it off— Your value doesn't come from them.
6. THE ART OF LETTING GO: Bitterness engrosses the mind too quickly. You feel maltreated. You feel the world is unfair and the doubts you are feeling right now seem so true. The key to a quicker healing is letting go— forgiving yourself even for the wrong people do to you.
The author’s use of biblical meaning and stories of great men like Glenn Cunningham, Jimmy Wayne, Roger Banister and others gave the book another meaning. They say that “ we learn more from other people's mistakes” was his main ideology. And also the way he simplified and converted the bible teachings to our today's life circumstances is something to commend.
I recommend you read the book. Yes, YOU that are reading this review. And also to my christian book readers.
