It's raining cats and dogs today, it seems like the earth would be swallowed.
It all started from dribbling but it seemed that it wouldn't stop which reminded me of childhood days — When we would run at the sight of such rain.. We would rush out from the house without clothes and dance to the rainfall. The feeling is never the same with the normal bathing; no soap and sponge is needed, just the ‘mmiri nso’ (heavenly water) could wash one's body clean.
Ooh! how can I forget the loud rumbling crashing sounds which are preceded by lightning. I would run at the sight of a sudden flash of light within the clouds. It always alerted me of the thunder.
But things won't seem as it was ever again; the peace and joy that envelopes our being when playing, faces full of smiles and souls without worries— those are blissful memories of my childhood.
Clock ticks and those moments live only in our minds as the become void in our present. We term it ‘Maturity’— we run to a shade and quickly grab our umbrellas. The same rain we played in, we now run from— it doesn't seem right yet we find ourselves doing them. We deprive ourselves the joy we once had to the principle forced on us by adulthood.
IS ADULTHOOD WORTH ALL THIS?
Step into the rain, reconnect with those blissful moments and damn what the world would say; live each moment like you own it and trust me, we all do.
