Motherhood is no child's play. It requires commitment, dedication and likewise more. It is just like a house built with colorful gates and beautiful rooms but the route before the house is very thorny and horny. Being a mother is the joy of every married woman but the journey to embrace motherhood is neither rosy.

Read and learn.
I moved to Enugu for a prescience program at Enugu state university. I live all my days with my parents and this opportunity was what I needed— a new environment to mingle and experience. Enugu state is indeed one of the beautiful and neat states in Nigeria. Well, I can't argue with anyone on that because it may be a false fact but it's nothing compared to where I lived with Mom and dad. At my arrival, I was amazed by their structured road with street lights lined in rows shining brightly and just maybe, the night brought more life to its beauty because I arrived during the late hours of 8pm. Another astonishing thing, I noticed was a well built bus stand at each bus stop along the roads— I have only seen something like this in the American movies, so it felt like I was in another country totally.
I got distracted by my phone ringtone. I knew it would be my dad because this was the third time he was calling to remind me to call my uncle immediately when I get to Enugu. My dad could be so overprotective at times. If he had his way, I know he would put a leash on me.

My uncle got in time to save me from the unending calls from my dad. He honked his Toyota Camry along the roadside, rolled down his window glass and called out my name. “Neme”.

I got into the car from the bus stand and he took off to his house. Silence hovered for a while and I cut off the serenity when I asked him about his wife, Aunt Sharon. “She is fine. It's just that this pregnancy is taking a turn on her. I don't know if you will understand but she's doing perfectly fine” He answered.

Aunt Sharon is no doubt a beautiful, charming and perfectly shaped woman. She is tall, fair in complexion and has the most charming eyes I have ever seen— those eyes added to her beauty.
I never say this out loud but my uncle was lucky to have gotten such a beautiful woman to say Yes to him— like the gap is one to hundred and one

We got to a three storey building at the end of the street. “This is where I stay. The last floor” he said.
The building seems to be newly built because the painting and roofing was still looking intact but if not, it means the owner just renovated the building recently. He helped me with a few of my luggage and led the way to his own flat apartment.
He knocked, only for a dark skinned middle aged woman to open the door from the other end. “good evening ma” I greeted her as she made her way to the dining table. I thought about who this woman was that came to visit and had no plans of leaving any time soon. She had this wrapper tied to her chest and was busy eating pounded yam and egusi soup with no oil at all. Like who on earth cooks soup without oil and on a second thought I haven't seen aunt Sharon in this house.” Don't tell me, my uncle is cheating on his beautiful wife with this aged woman— it can't be”. I rushed to where my uncle was to inquire about aunt Sharon's whereabout and to ask who the mystery woman at the diner is.

“ Uncle, where is aunty?”

“She's in there. She was the one that opened the door nah” He replied
I stood still for a sec and screamed. I ran back to the dinning “Aunty, is it really you?
She laughed and said “ I know you didn't recognize me when I opened the door. This is the new me now”

We all spent a few minutes laughing about this unexpected movie show that was just unveiled.
Pregnancy sure knows how to change someone to a completely different person and the journey to embrace parenthood indeed comes with an ultimate price. But above all I was happy that the couples embraced those changes wholeheartedly for the arrival of their little one.
